Many thanks to First Grandmaster Rhee and the UKTA Masters Council for an excellent weekend.
Congratulations to our 2 new Black Belts, Jana Williamson (12yrs) and Matthew Carmichael (11years)
A fantastic performance from both students. They were tested on their knowledge of Taekwon-do terminology, performed patterns Hwa Rang and Choong Moo, 1 step and free sparring, as well as demonstrating their accuracy on the breaking holder in front of Grandmaster Rhee and the UKTA Masters Council.
Andrew Smith demonstrated his breaking powers by making light work of the new red boards, performing jumping turning kick to over head height and smashing 2 bricks in his bare feet! Not to mention performing 3 patterns, foot technique sparring and 3 bouts of free sparring. A great performance which paid off with a promotion to 2nd degree.
All 3 students from Elgin were awarded their certificate and belts by Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha – The father of British Taekwon-do.

Congratulations to Nicola

Lindsey Wherret (nee Arnott) 4th degree, may be teaching and training on the other side of the world, but her roots will remain firmly here in Elgin. Lindsey ( designer of this web site) and her fellow club members entered the Tasmanian state ITF Championships last weekend.
It was an open competition so there were a whole mixture of clubs there including WTF, some freestyle even a few Kung Fu people , but it was mostly ITF. The patterns and breaking sections were purely ITF .
All their competitors came away with at least one medal. Lindsey took out the overall senior female champion trophy! Taking the gold for both the patterns and the power test. Paying tribute to her UKTA power test training, Lindsey broke more boards in the competition than even the Black Belt males! What a girl!

One can always find an excellent backdrop for a TKD photoshoot and Central Park , New York , is no exception.
